The company now known as Nurses Registry was originally formed in
Lexington, Kentucky in 1953. Physicians Exchange, the original
entity, was an answering service that also provided private duty
nursing services.
Lennie and Vicki House founded Nurses Registry in April of 1983 with
the acquisition of Physicians Exchange, which then operated in nine
Central Kentucky counties. The vision of the owners was to provide
health care to a larger segment of the Bluegrass population. In
September 1990, Nurses Registry expanded into seven additional
counties, thus creating an integrated healthcare network across 16
counties.
In October of 1990, Nurses Registry Home Infusion was started in
order to provide high-quality IV therapy for home-bound patients.
Three years later, Nurses Registry expanded it's private duty
nursing practice, providing staffing and placement of nurses in
hospitals, medical clinics, and other health care facilities. Recent
expansions include the formation of the Respiratory Services
division, the HME (Home Medical Equipment) division, and the addition of a Home Medical Alert
service.
